A LOOK AT COS

From the depths of Zeuhl, Jazz, Progressive and Canterbury rock, Cos emerges and enchants with a hypnotic and cryptic language that asks to be deciphered, leaving the listener momentarily stranded, somewhere between Boma and Bomma, much like an opium smoker or the hippos on the river Boma, or both… Unique and truly Belgian, with a touch of defiant humour, yet with uncanny finesse, Cos rightfully delivers the word, often with no words at all, through a rich texture of pulsating and elastic bass lines, magical farsifa organ, intricate drums and percussion and the ever-present blistering duality of Shell and Son. Son who almost entirely discards language, using her voice much as a new instrument. Schell who reinvents language in his subtle punctuated guitar phrasing. With this album, we are given hints of something that parallels the creation of a new world. We are passengers of a ship that is heading to uncharted terrain, a place that belongs to Cos and to Cos alone, a place that feels like outer space, yet familiar and even comforting. A place from which one never returns as the same person. Viva Boma is this journey and we are delighted to be part of it.

The text "a look at cos" is just extraordinary, it has a very touching poetic quality. May I ask who is the author and where can i find more of his reviews? thank you! Good site!

the text was written by my good friend Antonio Barreiros who was at the time co-founder of Fluide Records. Unfortunately the person who runs the label now does not publicize the record enough. He also used this review written by Mr. barreiros (A look at Cos) without any permission, which is a shame. Mr Barreiros has started his own label of success and is a collaborator of hans Pokora's latest book on rare record collecting (Record collector dreams 6001). We strongly advice you have a look at his own label : Golden pavilion records that has so far reissued 13 jewells of psych/ prog lost recordings.

Dear Rui Migas,
Thanks for your comment about the blog. It is very enlightening and encouraging.
I had almost forgotten this sad story but obviously Antonio not.
You’re right, the small introduction on the top of the blog was written by the great Antonio Barreiros and I’ve told it to Sylvia (the first post) at the time.
However a bit of history seems necessary. You say :
«Unfortunately the person who runs the label now does not publicize the record enough. He also used this review written by Mr. barreiros (A look at Cos) without any permission, which is a shame».
When I have proposed to set up a new label to Mr Barreiros we have agreed to stay anonymous, mainly to avoid that one of us be considered more or better than the other and also for others reasons close to the liberty and such stupidities like that. At the beginning, I was dealing with the technical part and Mr B with sales. To resume, the initial deal was : We serve the music, not our personal goals.(Rest below)

Please now take a look at the logo with attention.
Then, you’ll understand me that I was a bit surprising when Mr.B. send this small review to me with his name under and I’ve told it to him. In add, he doesn’t almost anything else for the conception and the production of this project… just these ten lines !
As I didn’t to put his name under the text, he became progressively a kind of capricious and choleric child who wanted absolutely see his name under this text and I was wondering if I was dealing with somebody who misses social recognition. Why not, of course, but it isn’t the initial deal…(If you are interresting by psychology, I’ve kept the entirety correspondence between us… )
AB decided to leave the label and, in my opinion, when you leave a project it’s without condition !.. but with your money. The work done stays the property of the label !
When it comes the publicity, I’m sorry but it’s my business, not yours… (end below)

Success is a good matter but perhaps Mr.B and me have not the same meaning of the word success…
Also, during our business acquaintances, I have often heard A.B spoke ill of Mister Pokora. Strange !
Greetings to your friend
